Our history

Our company began over 20 years ago, born out of a need for customised software solutions in the Goulburn Valley region in Victoria - that's what the GV in our name stands for! Since that time, we have continued to grow and our software clients are now all across Australia and in New Zealand.

Originally founded by David Spencer, GV Custom Software is now owned and run by Connor Gray and David's son Clayton. Connor and Clayton have both worked in the business for well over 10 years and their knowledge of the industries we service is second to none. They lead a team of dedicated software development superstars and fill the void where off-the-shelf software solutions fail.

CONNOR GRAY
Co-owner and Managing Director
Connor grew up in a small town near Shepparton (Tallygaroopna). He joined GV Custom Software in November 2008, bringing with him many years of experience as a software and web developer as well as running his own small business creating mobile device applications. Connor holds a Bachelor of Computing (Honours) majoring in Mathematics and has had two international papers published along with winning best presentation at a conference held in China.
First computer Commodore Vic20.
Hidden talent Connor can hear when a plasma globe is being touched, even with his eyes closed!

CLAYTON SPENCER
Co-owner and General Manager
Clayton joined the GV Custom Software team in September 2004. He has broad experience in LAN and WAN administration within large businesses such as IBM, Ansett, Hertz and World Vision. With degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering, Clayton complements the team with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
First computer Commodore 64.
Hidden talent Clayton is the creator of amazing home brew in his backyard brewery. IPAs are his specialty.

MICHELLE SPENCER
Finance and Administration Manager
Michelle joined the team in 2008 after working for nearly 15 years in the non-for-profit sector. She has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Commercial Law and over 20 years experience in accounting and financial/office administration, combined with team management and systems implementation.
First interest in computers Studying Pascal at school.
Hidden talent Michelle represented Queensland in the National Championships for synchronized swimming.

ARDA KARA
Software Developer
Arda joined the team in April 2016 with a focus on customer support. He came to us with several years experience in technical support roles and with a keen interest in expanding his software development skills and knowledge. Arda holds a Bachelor of Information Communication and Technology with other studies in networking and systems administration.
First programming language Java.
Hidden talent Arda can eat really, really, really hot sauce.

DAVID QIU
Software Developer
David joined the GV Custom Software team in September 2017 with 12 years experience in database development and data analysis. His experience spans across large companies and organisations in Melbourne and China. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and brings a wealth of knowledge and finely tuned problem solving brain to our development team.
First computer AMD K6.
Hidden talent David has been able to monitor electromagnetic waves from unknown sources with a special wave visualisation device...since he was 5 years old!

RENEE TZOUNTZOURKAS-GRAY
Personal Assistant
Renee joined the GV Custom Software team in 2017 to assist Connor with the running of the business. Renee brings an organising ability like the world has never seen, ensuring Connor never misses a thing.
First interest in computers Hasn't happened yet!
Hidden talent Renee assures us that all her talents are never hidden.
